No & Low Options in Bars
La Maison Wellness’ top 5 picks for No & Low options in bars: the London edition.
We’re all about top-notch mindful cocktails at home, but sometimes it’s hard to beat the convenience & glamour of a cocktail bar for those after work get-togethers or special occasions. For sure, one of the most popular questions we get asked at La Maison Wellness is “Where are your top mindful cocktail spots?!”
Well Heathy Hedonists! Every day the No & Low category is growing & it makes our hearts full to see the widening variety of options for those taking the middle path, in bars & restaurants all across the country. The venues below are just a selection… but they get the La Maison Wellness stamp of approval for sheer quality of drinks & service, plus the stellar range of no alcohol & low alcohol mindful cocktails available. Check them out for a reminder that tasty doesn’t have to be boozy!
1) Everafter Bar & Happiness Forgets 8-9 Hoxton Square
Above the famous Happiness Forgets (and by the very same drinks geeks) Everafter is a venerable delight of classic small plate dining meets out-of-the-box cocktail creations & sports that holy grail of city cocktail spots… a terrace! Their menu has a large variety of stunning No & Low cocktail offerings, such as a tropical Milk-Punch-style Sherry Cobbler, Jerezena & Tonic (a great alternative to a G & T with less booze, more flavour & texture) & The Thief (a non-alcoholic mindful cocktail using Everleaf, jasmine, basil & pomegranate soda.)
Must Try:
The NayGroni - A non-alcoholic take on the popular Italian Aperitif, using a house made Juniper hydrosol (natural water from the steam distillation of plant material) from Everafter.
Peneacillin with Everleaf ginger and lapsong souchon from Happiness Forgets!
2) Lyan-ess Sea Containers
With the bougie surrounds (and view!) of the Sea Containers Hotel, Ryan Chetiyawardana’s award-winning bar Lyan-ess is the destination for your celebratory mindful cocktail occasion. Their menu is organised by expertly-crafted, imaginative ingredients like “peach emoji”, “purple pineapple”, “king monkey nut”, “infinite banana” and “ultra-raspberry”. The team have crafted the ultimate non-alcoholic cocktail to showcase each, but are also always happy to go off-piste!
Must Try:
Tattie Milk Punch. Vegan & velvety! Feat. Seedlip Spice, Æcorn Aperitif, Potato “cream” & vegan honey.
3) Hacha Agave Bar 378 Kingsland Rd
Brainchild of friend of La Maison Wellness Deano Moncrieffe, Hacha is London’s first “agaveria” with a rotating selection of 25 spirits produced using the agave plant. Championing the ‘less is more’ philosophy, Hacha is a great way to enjoy a measure of something quality & make an experience out of trying something new. From a seven-strong cocktail menu, four of their drinks can be made non-alcoholic & with flavour profiles that are immediately recognisable to any lover of agave!
Must Try:
The non-alcoholic versions of their award-winning Mirror Margarita (it’s clear 🤯) & the Mezcal Spritz
4) Swift Shoreditch 91-93 Great Eastern Street
Little sis to the award-winning Swift Soho, we love that over half the drinks on Swift Shoreditch’s menu are low ABV or non-alcoholic. Transitioning from daytime café vibes to a cheeky after-work mindful cocktail, this bar shares the La Maison Wellness spirit of options for everyone & every occasion. Try the Avalanche (a mix of Æcorn Dry, almond, pineapple & roasted green tea kombucha), or ask the bartender to mix something bespoke!
Must Try:
The Aperitivo Menu. All low ABV & £6 until 19:00 for that Spritz life!
5) Hide Bar 39-45 Bermondsey Street
Most of the drinks and ingredients at this stylish speak-easy are brewed, distilled, fermented, or compounded in London- so Hide Bar is a great destination to celebrate the capital’s mindful cocktail scene! Their low and no menu is based around one of La Maison Wellness’ favourite mindful cocktail ingredients: Everleaf aperitif.
Must Try:
Everleaf Collins: a bittersweet delight with rhubarb and hibiscus tonic paired with breakfast tea and of course, Everleaf!
